Tayo, the we that includes you

Filipino has two words for "we". Kami is the one that leaves you out, as in "we did this" when you were not part of it. Tayo is the one that brings you in. Every Filipino picks between them mid-sentence without stopping to think about it.

We could have been Kami Labs. We build things for the people in the room with us, so we are not.

IO, input and output

The other half is the oldest idea in computing. Something goes in, something comes out, and the useful part is what happens in between. That is the whole service, really. You bring the input, we build the output, and it belongs to you afterwards.

Put the two together and you get what we are actually trying to do. Not as a slogan, but as a description of the work. An app for anyone taking the MRT, a website for one accounting firm in Bulacan, an invitation page for one couple. Same care at all three sizes, because the person at the other end has no idea how big their project was compared to anyone else's.

Who we are

A small product studio in the Philippines. We build for other people, and we build products of our own. That second part matters more than it sounds. Running your own product teaches you what it takes to keep something alive long after launch, and client work gets the benefit of that.

What we take on, and what we turn down

We build things people actually use. A year later is the test, not launch day.

Which means we say no sometimes. We are not an agency with a bench to keep busy. If something you can buy off the shelf already does the job, we will say so on the first call. If the idea is real but too big for a first version, we will tell you which part to build first.

What we want are problems with a person at the end of them. Bring us one and we will build it, keep it running, and hand it over.
