Fit for Faith

Coach Jacob Ejercito helps men with nutrition and weight loss, through a community he calls the Temple Forge Brotherhood and through one-on-one coaching. He already had a website. What he didn’t have was anything that turned a payment into a membership.

The problem

Every new subscriber meant work for him. He had to check that the payment had landed, then give that person access to the right programme by hand. That’s manageable at ten members. It falls apart well before a hundred.

What we built

The layer between his site, Xendit and membership.io. A customer picks Community or one-on-one coaching, subscribes and pays. From there it runs without him:

• Xendit takes the first payment and sets up the monthly subscription.
• Payments that fail are handled too, not just the ones that go through.
• The customer gets a confirmation.
• Their membership is switched on for the programme they bought.
• The matching part of the platform unlocks.

Both programmes go through the same steps. The only difference is what the member can open at the end.

The cancellation email

membership.io doesn’t send lifecycle emails itself, so those go out through Zapier. The one that matters most is the cancellation confirmation. It arrives within a minute, names the plan the member was on, says clearly that they won’t be charged again, and tells them they can switch it back on by replying.

It’s a small email. It’s also the difference between somebody leaving annoyed and somebody leaving on good terms.

Result

Jacob isn’t the one granting access any more. New subscribers get in on their own, at any hour, and his admin doesn’t grow with his member count.
