Nobody takes home what their contract says. Income tax comes off, and so do SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG, each on its own schedule. That’s four deductions under four sets of rules, and the amount that lands in your account isn’t any of the numbers you were quoted.
What it did
TaxPh put all four in one place. You entered what you earned, and it worked out income tax, SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG together, then showed the result per day, per month and per year.
The three views got used more than anything else in the app. A salary is quoted per month, tax is filed per year, and plenty of people budget day to day, so the same figure had to be readable all three ways.
Who it was for
Anyone who wants to know what they’ll actually take home and can’t just ring an accountant. It didn’t file anything and it wasn’t advice. It gave you one number, in plain language.
Why it’s offline
TaxPh shipped, and we took it down to rebuild it. Nothing went wrong with it. We say that clearly because a shelved app usually means a failed one, and this one didn’t fail.
What comes next
We won’t describe the new version until it exists. A tax calculator is only as good as the tables behind it, and those tables change whenever the rates do. Keeping them right is most of the work, and it has to be done before anyone reinstalls.
