In 2020 the front desk of a condo building became a problem. Every package came through it. Somebody had to sign for it, sort it, find a shelf for it, message the resident and then hand it over in person, all day, at a time when nobody wanted to be handed anything.
What we built
Lockers in a few sizes, each door locked with a password, and software that took the front desk out of the job. The courier puts the package in a free locker. The resident gets a text, an app notification or an email with the code, and collects it whenever they like. The courier and the resident never have to meet, and neither of them has to talk to the guard.
The building lost the queue at the desk. Residents stopped having to be home for a delivery.
Why it’s archived
Beehive ran through the pandemic, and we shut it down in 2022 once buildings went back to normal. It did the job it was built for, for as long as that job existed. We keep it on the site because it’s still the only thing we’ve built that opens a real door.
